About The Conference

SIMAD University’s CEPAD09-2024 conference focuses on the theme “Feeding the Future: Innovative Solutions to Address Food Insecurity in Somalia.” This theme is timely and crucial, given the longstanding challenges of food insecurity exacerbated by climate change, conflict, droughts, and global economic pressures. Recent data highlights the severity of the issue, with a significant portion of Somalia’s population facing moderate to severe food insecurity.

The conference serves as a premier platform for discussing these complex factors and exploring sustainable solutions. It brings together policymakers, economists, statisticians, researchers, industry experts, and thought leaders from Somalia and around the world. By exchanging knowledge, ideas, and experiences, participants aim to advance understanding and develop effective strategies to tackle food insecurity in Somalia and beyond.

The Objectives of the Conference

This conference aims to disseminate the findings of dozens of studies conducted by the scholars of SIMAD UNIVERSITY and others in the country and overseas. SIMAD UNIVERSITY realizes that the actual academic objective is not merely attained in-class environment but is also in the line of contributing to society by researching issues that are aligned with the national development plan of the country. This conference will serve the very objective of establishing a forum for research
presentation and knowledge transfers.
